Amigurumi GIR Pattern

Well, I've finally finished typing up my pattern for GIR. It took me much longer to finish up than I planned. That's what I get for making two more sets while testing and proof-reading.

Here is the set that I made for my husband. This is the only "Duty Mode" GIR that I made, but I included the alternate eye instructions in the finished pattern.

As promised, the .pdf is available for download at: http://www.bin.sh/~thropots/crochet/amigurumi_gir.pdf. Enjoy!

Oh, and if any of you decide to make the pattern, I would love to see the results and get feedback. This is the first time I have tried writing a pattern, and I hope it is easy to follow. I wish I had better pictures of the finished GIRs for the pattern. If you have questions, post them here and I'll do my best to answer.

my only sugesstion mught be to use a foam cube for the doggie gir head to make it more squarish.
but i don't know how well you could crochet around it. so i'll experiment and see ^_^ otherwise, full of awesome as always ^_^

Oooh, the foam cube is a great idea. I wish I had thought of that. You could crochet down to where I start making decreases for the bottom of the head (so you have the top and sides done), put the foam cube in, and then do the decrease rounds to finish up. I think it should work pretty well. Let us know if you try it.

I did an extra decrease at the top of the head and that made it pretty square. I didn't want any foam in there as it's now a favorite of my son who sleeps with it.

These patterns rock!

This rules! Good work! I wonder how it would work in regular worsted weight (my son's a big Zim fan). I guess we'll find out!

I have no idea what those are from, but they are absolutely ADORABLE!

I love them!

Btwn you and [info]shigella I'm going to have to learn to be a bit more crafty. Or y'know, increase my spending account so I have more money with which to bribe other people to do these things for me. :D

It would be GIR from Invader Zim, a cartoon previously on Nickelodeon. It's an odd show, and GIR steals every scene he's in.

I'm glad that we can inspire you ([info]shigella happens to be a close friend of mine from college).

I'm glad that we can inspire you (shigella happens to be a close friend of mine from college).

I don't know that inspiring me to commit bribery is what you intended, but y'know, I'm all about whatever works.

Actually, [info]shigella and I went to college together as well. I THINK you and I knew each other, but I don't think aside from our dear [info]shigella that we travelled much in the same circles.

Well, I was hoping to inspire you to crafy things, but as crafty people can often be bribed with craft supplies that might be just as well :)

I'm guessing that we probably didn't travel much in the same circles, and I can't for the life of me place who you might be. [info]shigella and I tended to travel in different circles that overlapped in strange ways.
