i picked up the book はじめてでも編める!あみぐるみ recently and finished my first project from it. i like the patterns in the book - they are super cute and have a lot of personality. i do speak some japanese but i think the patterns are understandable even if you don't speak japanese since the pictures and diagrams are quite extensive.
i really enjoy the posts on this community - you guys inspire me!

it's a great book... and it was the cheapest amigurumi book they had at the japanese bookstore :)

Where'd you buy this book? I have no clue where to buy japanese pattern books in the US, except ebay.

i bought the book at kinokuniya which is a japanese bookstore that has a few stores on the west coast. i've heard good things about yesasia.com. i've never ordered from them myself though, but they have a good selection and pretty good prices i think. here's a link...
