i picked up the book はじめてでも編める!あみぐるみ recently and finished my first project from it. i like the patterns in the book - they are super cute and have a lot of personality. i do speak some japanese but i think the patterns are understandable even if you don't speak japanese since the pictures and diagrams are quite extensive.

i really enjoy the posts on this community - you guys inspire me!

That's so cute! Well done! I can't crochet or make amigurumi at all, but I am thinking of getting that book to help me learn :D

thanks! :) i'm fairly new to amigurumi. i was sucked in by all of the cuteness!!! good luck with trying to learn. the first pattern i used was from roxycraft.com. it's in english so that made things easier. i also used the stitch tutorials from crochetcabana.com.

So so cute! Kind of reminds me of my dog Freedom, (yes, we yell "Freedom" out our side door... strange?) except his ears aren't as big. Hehe. (But the big ears on this doggy are ADORABLE. :D )
Where'd you buy this book? I have no clue where to buy japanese pattern books in the US, except ebay.

my parents' dog is called shakes (short for shakespeare) and we get funny looks when we yell his name at the dog park :)
i bought the book at kinokuniya which is a japanese bookstore that has a few stores on the west coast. i've heard good things about yesasia.com. i've never ordered from them myself though, but they have a good selection and pretty good prices i think. here's a link...
